About Sustainability Research
Started in 2003 by me, Christian Murphy, in Arlington Virginia. Since then the physical location of Sustainability Research has moved to Salem, Massachusetts. My primary means of finacial support is working in the Electrical Engineering Department of Metcalf and Eddy an AECOM company. There I work on the design and analysis of indstrial power systems primarily in the waste and fresh water treatment fields. Sustianability Research is in no way associated with Metcalf and Eddy or AECOM. The views/optinoins/solutions expressed here are mine alone.
I am also a Ph.D. student at Virginia Tech studying Electrical Engineering at the Advanced Research Institute. This work in in no way connected to Virginia Tech or the Advanced Research Institute. As part of a company that I am president of, Applied Energy Technologies, I am developing a generator to fit inside a buoy to generate electricity from ocean waves. This project will then segway into my dissertation projectSustainability Research's Purpose
My original thought was to turn Sustainability Research into a company. I was unable to find good cash sources that would support what I wanted this site to be so in the forseeable future this is a project of Applied Energy Technologies. The purpose of this website is to provide an outlet for information, investigations and solutions in the field of sustainability. The underlying assumption is that the evaluation of sustainability is desirable. Notice the assumption is not that sustainability is the best solution, but a subject that should be investigated. The evaluation of sustainability is one of the areas of inquiry pursued by Sustainability Research. My primary interest at this point is focused on the exploration of sustainable energy but this site is not dedicated to energy exclusively and will expand over time.
